Hello, World!
Welcome to my new blog site where I'll be writing about digital autonomy, open-source software, and more!

For almost the past year I have been rediscovering my love for technology and computer science through all sorts of mediums. At first it was simply due to my frustration with the Windows operating system and I was only playing around with new technologies out of curiosity. The more I dove back into programming and was seeing success on some simple projects, the more my interest grew stronger.
Then in November of 2024 when a certain fascist won re-election south of the border it became not just an interest I was rediscovering but something I felt there was a sense of moderate urgency to. While our southern neighbour is one of the most noticeable signifiers of the growing unsafe world, their choice to elevate a self declared wannabe dictator to the highest office is far from the only reason I've gotten back into studying technology. From the attempted closures of the Wayback Machine to the deletion of government websites on COVID-19 research and the tech oligarchs siphoning all our data there is no shortage of reasons to be worried about the future of technology.
My goal is to ensure a safe and useful technology ecosystem for myself, my family, and those around me. We should not have to choose between participating in modern society and privacy, but that is currently the path we seem to be heading down. So the goal is for the work and research I'm doing is to provide reliable, self-hosted, open source technologies that will aim to deliver all the good promises modern technology is claimed to offer us, without sacrificing any data, privacy, or any personal information.
If this interests you, glad to have you here. I hope to write regular updates on how the project is going.
